Visiting potential employment opportunities is essential. Your last year in training is not the only time you should visit a practice/facility. Visit employment options whenever you can, even if you are in medical school and several years away from making any kind of concrete job decision. Start early. Visit when you are on vacation during med school. Visit anytime and anyplace you travel. Established physicians are thrilled when young doctors-to-be come for a visit. And, you never know when you might make a contact that proves meaningful down the road.
